Living with noticeable hair loss is no longer to be expected due to the incredible developments that have been made in the treatment of men’s hair loss. With the introduction of Propecia, generic name Finasteride, it is now possible to stop or slow down the progression of hair loss in the majority of men who use it.
Fifty percent of all men experience male-patterned baldness; the most common type of hair loss beginning around the age of thirty.
It generally starts as a receding hairline; a thinning of hair on the crown and temples; resulting in a U-shape pattern around the head. In some rare cases, a male may end up completely bald.
The condition is genetic; caused by an abundance of the male hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which causes the hair follicles to become weak and eventually inactive, resulting in a lack of hair re-growth. This process can take decades, so if you have experienced rapid hair loss (under a year) or scalp irritation causing bald patches, you should seek medical advice from your GP to ensure there are no underlying thyroid conditions or other reasons for the condition.
One of the most effective treatments for general hair loss is finasteride, which prevents further hair loss and increases hair growth.
Approximately 60–80% of men who experience male-pattern baldness develop a clinical diagnosis, known as alopecia, after they have had anoscopy and hair growth using a microscope. While it is not recommended, day by day is the recommended treatment. In rare cases, men will suffer for having the symptoms, including scalp irritation, men who have had bald patches following prior to and following hair loss will also be suffering from male-patterned hair loss.
While there are no proven, 100mg tablets are the proven treatment gold standard, and the Pfizer Pharmaceutical company branding of the company makes for an synonymous with generic finasteride. At Propecia, generic finasteride is also available in a much stronger formulation, called Minoxidil, which allows for more of ainteresting and possibly dangerous side effect.
Finasteridee provides Propecia with the added benefit of being available in a formulation called Minoxidil.
Unlike some other hair loss drugs, which are available as oral tablets, which are taken bysmall bottles, Finasteride is available as a hospital prescription and sent for a genetic analysis.
“ Mankind has always intended men to find something they pleased about by starting a family, but the reality is that as women we do not feel responsible for the possible side effects of our patients suffering. In this environment men are often unaware of their alopecia”, - Finasteridee’s original branded formulation, Propecia’s MINOXIDIL works to allow for faster hair loss and this is its function”, - Bio-Pharma News Director, Hair-Loss Head, Pfizer.

I’ve been married for 25 years and my husband has been on Finasteride for several years now. I know it’s a very expensive drug, but my husband is still a very satisfied man.
My doctor has told me to get a prescription for Propecia (finasteride), but I have heard nothing about that in my case. I just want to see how it can be used and how it can be used at the same time. I’ve tried to ask him to write down the drug, but it’s been hard to find a pharmacy that has the same number of drug names. He says he doesn’t do this stuff much, but the amount of money he makes is not enough for him to afford this drug.
I went to a very good Walgreens pharmacy and they have the same number of drugs. I don’t know how that number is going to be used, but it’s probably about $30 a pill, so it would be $10, but I guess that would be more for the doctor to pay.
Does anyone have any ideas about the other pharmacies that might be able to give me some information or advice?
Thanks
Dr. Scholl

Thanks for the detailed information. I’ve been looking for a good place to buy Finasteride. I have an old prescription from my doctor and I’ve tried to get it filled before he prescribes it. He says he has the same prescription, but it costs more than $20 a pill. I think the only thing that could make it more expensive would be a generic version of the drug, which I don’t understand.
Thanks for all the advice. I’ll try to get a generic version of Propecia, as well as a brand name. The cost of that drug could be $200 or more, depending on the pharmacy and it being generic.
Does anyone have any advice?
I’m sure this is a long post so I can’t help you with that. I’ve tried to get a generic version of it from Costco but it costs more than $100 a pill. I think it would cost about $20 or more, but it wouldn’t be that much. Thanks for the help, Dr.
You can get a generic version of Finasteride from Costco, but I’ve heard that they may not be able to do this at all. I’ve read some posts that have said there is no way they can afford this drug.
I’ve been trying to get my Finasteride and it’s been a long road to come. I’ve had no luck with the generic version of it until I read a post about it. I’m glad I didn’t get that answer, and I don’t want to waste my time getting it from the pharmacy. I’m sure I’ll get it again.
Thank you for your reply! I don’t understand how this would be able to be used, but the amount of money that I would need would be so much cheaper. I think I’d need to ask my doctor for a prescription. I’ve heard that Finasteride might not be available in stores. Maybe I’ll need to go to a pharmacy instead of going to a doctor.
I’ve been on this medication for 25 years. I’ve tried it before, but I have never had any problems. It is also expensive. The price is only $20 a pill. The cost is too great. I also know you can get it for less if you have an insurance plan.
Thanks again for all the advice.
